Places of religion, outdoor venues and reception halls ranked at the top of brides' lists when choosing ceremony and reception venues, according to a recent survey.
A total of 37.8% of the 836 brides surveyed named a place of religion (such as a church, temple, synagogue or mosque) as their ceremony location, while another 22.6% chose an outdoor venue like a park or garden and 8.1% opted for a reception or banquet hall.
Modesto area churches are always bustling with wedding ceremonies. The costs are typically nominal for the venue and they tend to hold meaning for couples due to attendance by themselves or their families. Vintage Gardens, Del Rio Country Club and Erwinshire Garden Estate are all very popular local choices for outdoor venues.
Historic mansions or venues (6.0%), hotels (5.7%) and private homes (5.4%) finished out the list. Modesto’s McHenry Mansion and Ceres’ Whitmore Mansion are two local favorites for weddings in historic venues.
As for the reception venue, reception and banquet halls (31.6%) were the most popular options, with outdoor venues (12.3%) and hotels (11.4%) also ranking highly. Historic mansions or venues (8.3%), religious venues (6.6%) and private homes (6.2%) rounded out the top choices.
Weddings are definitely events dictated by tradition. So it's no surprise that places of religion, outdoor venues and reception halls are among the leading wedding venues, because they are certainly the most traditional. However, findings show a diversity of choices among wedding venues, revealing a willingness among brides to consider lots of types of venues.
In addition, 56.1% of all brides stated that, in planning a wedding, they would be holding their ceremony and reception at the same venue.
In light of the current economic climate, brides are trying to squeeze every penny out of their budget when wedding planning, and keeping the ceremony and reception in the same place can save lots of money and hassle.
Additionally, 12.2% of brides also stated that they would be having a destination wedding. Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular, and for several reasons. The cost of a destination wedding can be comparable to planning a wedding at home, and sometimes even less expensive. Second, many guests are already traveling by plane, so a destination wedding just means a longer flight. Third, the bride and groom can combine their wedding and honeymoon, saving them money. And, finally, everyone gets to have a vacation while they are attending a wedding.
